Halloween, the scariest autumn celebration
I wrote about autumn hair colours in my posts lately and I didn’t even realise that we are getting really close to Halloween. Well, the plan was writing about more autumn colours but I get a little deeper into historical facts and strange beliefs about red hair and it made me remember about the last night of October. In the past redheads were said to be witches and witch costumes are really popular this crazy night so I decided to write my next post about Halloween, the scariest autumn celebration. And what’s hair care got to do with Halloween? On the last night of October not only the kids go to the streets every year but adults go out to different kinds of parties with frightening costumes and amazing make-up.
Hair is also involved because hair style or hair colour is often an important part of their scary appearance. Ones prefer wigs while others choose hair dyes that can easily be washed out after the party. And some people like to keep the new hair colour so we are all looking for different solutions. These are my reasons to write about hair care now that we are getting close to Halloween.
Briefly about Halloween
The word itself is a contraction of All Hallow’s Evening. It’s celebrated in several countries though in different ways. In my home country this period of the year has a quiet different mood. It’s not really about having fun or going to scary parties. It’s rather about remembering our loved ones we had lost. Although there are more and more Halloween parties every year, the main demand in shops is still not about Halloween sweets or scary costumes. Families go to the cemetery together with flowers and candles. It’s the celebration of all Saints and all Souls. In Anglo-Saxon countries the last day of October is for celebrating the witches, vampires and ghosts. It’s based on Celtic and pagan traditions. The ancients believed that the border between the living and the dead is the thinnest this night and the ghosts of the dead can return to earth. The celebration is not only about scary costumes but scary house and garden decorations, too. And what is this big hype about Halloween, the scariest autumn celebration? It was believed that creating cold and frightening surroundings and wearing scary costumes can help to ward off ghosts.
During Halloween you can forget every day’s routine for a while and open your mind to something special and magical. Choose a costume and keep away as many ghosts as possible. 😉 If you are a redhead you are one step ahead. You can wear one of the most popular costumes and scary the night as a witch given there have always been some strange beliefs about red hair. But maybe you want to make a full transformation and you’re open to wear a wig or ready to hair dyeing.
Should I choose a wig?
Wigs are really popular during Halloween. I suppose it’s because of its simplicity. Wearing it you can avoid temporary or permanent hair dying. Even if you regularly colour your hair it’s possible that you don’t want to use any chemicals just because your Halloween costume requires another hair colour or style. So spend some time with checking the product range, from your home if you like, then just put it on within a few minutes when time has come. If you want a solution with immediate result that lasts only till the second you want it, wigs are for you. It’s also a really good solution if your hair is not suitable for the desired hair style.
Wash out hair dyes and hair chalks
Such hair dyes are also popular mainly in bright and striking colours. You can easily apply hair sprays and get rid of the brave colour before going back to school or work. 😉 Some people don’t like to wear a wig and hiding their own hair. Some say wigs are too warm and I’ve heard complaints about itchy scalp, too. If you have ever experienced any of the mentioned or you think it’s better to avoid them and just wanna have fun on the last night of October these hair sprays or hair chalks can be good options. Another good point about them is the fact that you can mix the colours. Dream your unique Halloween hair and make it. If you dreamt about bright or various colours hair sprays are for you. My favourite is Qivange Hair Chalk Pen Set because I love its bright colours.
If you want neither wigs nor hair dyeing you still can have a cool hair style with wearing Halloween hair accessories. Here are my favourite ones:
Moisturize after the party
Halloween is fun. Enjoy it and give some special care to your hair after the party. Using a Deep Cleansing Shampoo and a Deep Treatment Masque is a very good combo. Your hair will love it. Remember, solutions are often around you. You can try to make hair masks with ingredients from your kitchen.
