Is it worth using rosemary oil in hair care?
Using natural ingredients is trending in 2023. Hair care is not an exception either. One of the most popular ingredient now is rosemary oil. What is it and why can it be good for you?
What is rosemary?
To put it simple, it’s a greyish-green, aromatic evergreen shrub. We all know rosemary itself, because we may often see the fresh plant in the groceries. We can use it as a seasoning when cooking. Others like to use it in aroma therapy. Given its lovely scent, it’s often used in soaps and cosmetics, too.
Rosemary is native to the Mediterranean regions, like Portugal and Spain. Nevertheless, it was also brought to Britain with the Roman armies. This greyish-green plant has been used since ages. The first mention of rosemary was found on stone tablets from around 5000 BCE. Egyptians, the ancient Greeks and Romans also used it.
Why should you use rosemary in your hair care routine?
Rosemary is available for everyone. Very easy to get it and not an expensive option, either. You can choose from ready to use products or you can make your own remedies. And in the other hand, it has a lot of benefits for your hair and scalp:
Removes product buildup
Promotes healthy circulation to the scalp
Re-energizes the scalp
Nourishes the skin
Supports strong hair
It has antifungal properties
Calms the scalp
Helps to fight dryness and itchiness
How to use rosemary oil in hair care?
The simplest way is to add a few drops of rosemary oil to your normal shampoo.
You can also massage it into your scalp and leave it for a few minutes.
For more scalp relief, you can make an overnight hair mask from rosemary oil and a carrier oil. Using a carrier oil is extremely important, otherwise it may irritate your skin. Use 2 tablespoons of carrier oil (it can be olive oil for example) and 4-5 drops of rosemary oil. Mix and leave it on your scalp for the night, rinse well in the morning.
If you are as convenient as me, and prefer to buy ready to use products, there are a lot of options. Shampoos, hair serums with rosemary oil. This way or another, it is worth using rosemary oil in your hair care routine.
